Victor Bahna author of "Heliacal Star" grew up in Malverne spending his teen years at nearby Belmont Park absorbing the excitement of the races along with the beauty and grace of horses.  Because of his passion for racing Victor wanted to share the excitement and emotions you can experience in the world of horse racing. "Heliacal Star" the book, is named after the thoroughbred in this horse racing crime and suspense novel and has at its center a race-fixing scheme.  There's gangster crime,  illicit traffiking of retired racehorses but main character Matt with trainer Kristine are trying to avoid getting caught in the net of such nefarious activities.

Bahna, a Silicon Valley-based software engineering company's senior director also started Royal VictoryThoroughbreds a partnership of eight people from his youth.  Partners invest in the ownership of racehorses, buying shares which enable them to participate in the world of horseracing.
